Mountain Village

PROGRAM: Site planning and individual building design for family dwellings and a small school.
CLIENT: Private Group
SIZE: Undisclosed
STATUS: Design Stage

Built on terraced fields, the houses lie along the edge of the central flatter area of the site and the lower level stream to the west. Each villa has two “boxes”, one higher, and one lower, to accommodate the slope. Between the boxes is a terrace. The roof of the lower box serves as a convenient mountain-watching platform. One of the five dwellings is across the stream against the cliff and is connected to the rest of the site by a small bridge. On the bridge is a tea house centered on the stream below.

A small amount of car-parking is provided near each of the two gates. Lower-level agricultural terraces at the south are used as an eco-garden both to grow food and to purify waste water.
