Dan Dong Mixed-Use Development

PROGRAM: Conceptual Design and Site Planning
CLIENT: Dan Dong Developer
SIZE: 180,000 m2
STATUS: Conceptual Design
LOCATION: Dan Dong, Liaoning Province, China

The site is in a narrow strip bordering the Yalu River that separates China and North Korea.

This mixed-use development includes five residential towers that rise from a four-story commercial podium. The residential towers support a symbolic reconstruction of the bridge connecting China and North Korea. Lighthouse-penthouse apartments greet North Korea across the river. Office towers at either end of the site are round, echoing the form of the guard tower at the foot of the bridge.
